European Student Travel Awards for Toronto

10 Student Travel Awards (800 €) will be available to support participation.

Student members of EU-SPR are eligible to apply for a travel award if: (a) they are master or doctoral students; (b) they are in good standing in their graduate program (and they will still be a student at the time of their presentation), (c) their SPR membership is current, (d) they are first author on a paper or poster presentation, and (f) they will register for and attend the conference to present their work and receive their award in person.

Applications should be submitted to the chapter president stig.poulsen@psy.ku.dk until January 1st, 2017 and will be reviewed by the European Student Award Committee
(S. Poulsen, S. Taubner, R. Holmqvist).

Lifetime Contribution to SPR Award

All of the materials, except for the publications, must be in English. If any publications are not in English, please include an abstract of each in English.

The SPR lifetime contribution award is intended to honor exceptional service contributions to the International Society for Psychotherapy Research. This award was established recently. David Orlinsky was the first recipient.

Outstanding Early Career Achievement Award

All of the materials, except for the publications, must be in English. If any publications are not in English, please include an abstract of each in English.

The award should reflect the significance of the nominee’s contributions, productivity, as well as promise in making scientific contributions to psychotherapy research. To make a nomination, the nominator should prepare three sets of the supporting documents and then send (via email) one set to each member of the Awards Committee.

Senior Distinguished Research Career Award

All of the materials, except for the publications, must be in English. If any publications are not in English, please include an abstract of each in English.

This award honors a long career and a substantial body of scientific work that constitutes a major and significant contribution to psychotherapy research. The primary criterion for this award is the scientific merit of the nominee's contribution. To make a nomination, the nominator should prepare a set of the supporting documents (e.g., as PDFs) and send (via email) the set to each member of the Awards Committee.

North American Student Travel Awards for Toronto

6 Student Travel Awards and 2 Pot-doc Travel Awards will be available to support participation.

The North American Chapter of SPR will have two pools of trainee travel awards for the International SPR meeting in Toronto: one pool for students and one pool for post-doctoral fellows.

To apply, eligible members should complete the brief application below in full.
The application is due by December 15, 2016 (two weeks after the deadline for conference proposal submission). Notifications of award winners will be sent in late February 2017.

The deadline for the submission of nominations is DECEMBER 15, 2016.

International SPR student award for Students

6 Student Travel Awards ($1000) will be available to support participation.

The awards are oriented to master students, doctoral students, and post docs, from all countries of the world. This award is specially targeted to students without institutional funding to attend the SPR meeting. (These awards are independent from SPR chapter awards).

Applicants must demonstrate economic need & professional promise. They must also present an accepted paper or poster of interest in the Meeting and a letter of recommendation by the student´s mentor.

An award committee -with representation from all SPR chapters- will be established by the Executive Council of SPR to review applications.

All applications should be sent to sprexecutive@gmail.com with “International student travel award” in the subject heading.

Application deadline has been extended to January 15th, 2017.

Lester Luborsky Student Poster Award

6 Student Travel Awards ($1000) will be available to support participation.

The seventh Lester Luborsky Student Poster Award competition will be held at the 2017 SPR conference in Toronto, Canada. Three student poster prizes will be awarded - first place $500.00, second place $300.00 and third place $200.00. An international jury of SPR members will select the most inventive and scientifically convincing studies that also demonstrate excellence in poster design.

To be eligible for participation the student must be:

  • The first author of the presentation.
  • Available to present during the poster session.
  • Prepared to demonstrate their student status with appropriate documentation if asked to doso by the Student Poster Award committee chair.
  • The poster must have been accepted by the program committee for the meeting in Toronto in 2017.

The poster must be sent (a .pdf file) to the award committee chairperson, Claudio Martinez by the extended deadline of MAY 29, 2017.
